Using Heightfields for Texture Design? from Particle Kabob on Vimeo.
This is less tutorial and more sharing an experiment with you. Can we use Heightfields and Compositing Operators to generate texture maps? The answer is an awesome yes! This is a very simple tutorial but I will label it as intermediate because it uses Surface Operators, HFs, and Compositing Operators. The file created will output Color, Displacement, Normal, and Rough Maps. Also please note I used an Houdini Digital Asset from a previous tutorial, “Making a Dart.” I included the source files and HIP. The can be downloaded at dropbox.com/s/pjwy6iqzqhw3czg/HF_Tile_Generator.zip?dl=0

COSMOS: A Spacetime Odyssey - Mini Making Of (Vulcano Edna errution) from Anselm von Seherr-Thoss on Vimeo.
My vulcano simuation for the very popular TV show COSMOS: A Spacetime Odyssey with Neil DeGrasse Tyson (nominated for an EMMY).
The most challenging part was the fact that the simulation is roughly 1500 frames long (!) and had to move very slowly while maintaining detail. Not the easiest of tasks! The final sims was retimed in FumeFX by 200% which caused a few flicker headaches. It is not really designed to retime that much. The fume grid was pretty massive in size as well and used around 12-16gb of ram.Hope you like it :)

ALIVE | Canada 4K from Flo Nick on Vimeo.
I travelled 5500 km in six weeks exploring the vast landscapes of British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, always looking to place my camera gear in the most beautiful sceneries possible.
With 54.000 single photos shot along the way I created ALIVE - a timelapse film which takes you on a vivid journey through wild forests, along the shores of crystal lakes and up the hills of massive mountains.
By making this project, I want to raise awareness of our wonderful planet earth which we have the privilege to be part of. That’s why we have to take responsibility for it - for the place where we are alive.

Russia from Pete R. on Vimeo.
Russia was the last trip I did in 2017. I spent three weeks traveling from city to city in the rainy and gloomy weather of Russia. As you know, by the November, Russia is approaching winter and the weather can be quite unpredictable as it was for me. Instead of dwelling on bad weather, I decided to go out and capture the cities of Russia as it is while taking advantage of the approaching winter and went up to the Arctic Circle to witness the northern lights. It was probably one of the cheapest place in the world to do so.
After Murmansk, I went down and spent a week each in St Petersburg and Moscow to capture the “Life Out of Balance” of Russian cities. Yes, you are not mistaken. This video was fully inspired by the great documentary, Koyaanisqatsi, Life Out of Balance directed by Godfrey Reggio and the music composed by Philip Glass.
Funny enough I actually took all these footages before I even watched the documentary. I’m quite surprise that I was able to accommodate the concept into my travel videos from unplanned footages. :)
I hope you enjoy the film and watch out for my next travel video!

Zaryad'e Moscow Time Machine / Машина Времени “Зарядье” from Anton Nenashev on Vimeo.
